Auburn Animal Hospital
We generally recommend kittens receive Feline Distemper (FVRCP-C) vaccines every 3 weeks until they are over 17 weeks of age. Every kitten should have a Feline Combo Test to check for feline leukemia (FeLV) and feline aids (FIV), potentially life threatening and contagious conditions in felines. If negative/normal, every kitten should receive a Feline Leukemia vaccine followed by a single booster vaccine in 3 weeks. After 12 weeks and closer to 16 weeks, we will administer the Rabies vaccine. In addition to vaccines, kittens need to start heartworm prevention and flea/tick prevention at about 8 weeks of age.
